Oil on Canvas 60 x 60 x 2 Unframed
I painted this during the summer when lockdown was first lifted. I was attracted to the bright colours and the size of the heads of thies friendly flowers. I wanted to capture it in oils in the style of Van Gogh. A characteristic of Sunflowers is that they will turn their heads to look up at the sun and when there is no sun, the heads turn inwards, together and to eachother thereby huddling together. This means that sunflowers have a particular significance which are very relevant to current times: they signify solidarity, friendship, support and community.
